# Free website builders that work with your own domain

Most free plans park your site on their own address and charge you to
connect yours. We checked 10 builders' own pricing and help pages on
October 12, 2026, to see which don't. PageHub is ours, so we list its catch
too. If you searched for a free website builder with custom domain
support, or free website hosting with custom domain SSL included, this is
the list.

## The short answer

- Of the 10 builders checked, PageHub is the only one whose pricing page
says its free plan connects a domain you already own. It includes hosting,
SSL, no branding, free templates, Stripe checkout, and MCP access, so
Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor can build and publish the site.
- Odoo's free plan likely allows your own domain too, but covers one app.
Add a second and every user is billed.
- Wix, WordPress.com, Google Sites, Carrd, Framer, Webflow, and Square Online
all need a paid plan for a custom domain. Squarespace has no free plan.

"Free" here means $0 a month to keep the site live. You still buy the
domain from a registrar, usually $10–20 a year.

## PageHub

Free plan: 1 published site on a domain you own, 20 pages, 500 form
submissions and 2 GB of bandwidth a month, 5 GB storage. No PageHub badge.
Stripe checkout with no PageHub transaction fee. The catch: you bring the
domain, and Pro is $7 a month per site when you need more.

## Odoo

One App Free: one app, unlimited users, hosted on Odoo Online. Odoo's
domain docs give the steps to connect a domain you own with no paid-plan
limit stated, and the free plan can include a new domain for the first
year after a manual review. The catch: add a second app and you move to
Standard, $24.90 per user a month billed yearly (discounted for the first
12 months).

## Google Sites

Free on a sites.google.com address. A personal Gmail account can't use a
custom domain; you need Google Workspace, from $7 per user a month.

## Carrd

Free one-page sites with a Made with Carrd badge and no forms. A custom
domain starts on Pro Standard, $19 a year for 10 sites.

## WordPress.com

Free on a WordPress.com address, with ads shown to visitors, a 10% fee on
payments, and no custom domain. Personal is $4 a month billed yearly or $9 billed monthly, with a
free domain for the first year.

## Wix

Free on a wixsite.com address with Wix branding and no payments. A custom
domain starts on Light, $17 a month billed yearly.

## Squarespace

No free plan, only a 14-day trial. Basic is $19 a month billed yearly or
$25 monthly, with a free domain for the first year.

## Square Online

Free store on a square.site address, at 3.3% + 30¢ per online card
payment. Connecting your own domain needs Square Plus, $49 a month per
location.

## Framer

Free on a Framer address with a Made in Framer banner. Basic, with a custom
domain, is $10 a month.

## Webflow

Free Starter: webflow.io address, 2 static pages, a Made in Webflow badge.
Basic, with a custom domain, is $15 a month billed yearly.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which free website builder lets me connect my own domain?
PageHub's free plan connects one domain you already own, with SSL and no
branding. Odoo's One App Free likely allows it too: its domain docs don't
limit connecting your own domain to paid plans. Wix, WordPress.com, Google
Sites, Carrd, Framer, Webflow, and Square Online don't allow it on free, as
of October 2026.

### Is the domain itself free?
On PageHub, no. You buy the domain from a registrar such as Cloudflare,
Namecheap, or Porkbun, usually $10–20 a year, and connecting it to PageHub
costs nothing. Odoo's free plan can include a new domain free for the first
year, after a manual content review. Squarespace, WordPress.com, and Wix
include a free first-year domain only on paid plans.

### Can I sell things on a free website builder?
PageHub's free plan includes Stripe checkout, and PageHub adds no
transaction fee (Stripe's own fees apply). Square Online sells on free at
3.3% + 30¢ per online card payment. Odoo's free app can be eCommerce. WordPress.com
takes a 10% fee on payments on free. Wix, Webflow, and Carrd need a paid plan
to take payments.

### What's the catch with PageHub's free plan?
It's 1 published site with up to 20 pages, 500 form submissions and 2 GB of
bandwidth a month. That suits a small business or personal site, not a busy
store. PageHub doesn't sell domains, so you bring one. Pro is $7 a month
per site.

### Can I use a custom domain on Google Sites for free?
Not with a personal Gmail account. Google's help says to move the site
into Google Workspace and link the domain there. Workspace Business Starter
is $7 per user a month billed monthly.

### What's the cheapest paid plan with a custom domain?
Carrd Pro Standard is $19 a year for 10 one-page sites. WordPress.com
Personal is $4 a month billed yearly. Framer Basic is $10 a month. Webflow
Basic is $15 a month billed yearly. Wix Light is $17 a month billed yearly.
Squarespace Basic is $19 a month billed yearly.
