The website builder for ChatGPT
Connect PageHub to ChatGPT and ask for the site you want. ChatGPT builds it, you check it, and it goes live on your own domain. You or your client can keep editing it in a visual editor, no AI needed.
Sites built this way
Real client sites built on PageHub and live today. These two were built with Claude. ChatGPT connects to the same server and uses the same tools.
From one prompt to a live site
Here's an example prompt and what ChatGPT does with it. The names in code are the actual PageHub tools it calls.
Use PageHub to build a site for my dog grooming shop, Suds & Paws, in Portland. 3 pages: home, services with prices, and contact with a booking request form. Warm colors, stock photos that fit, friendly copy. Show me a phone screenshot before you publish. When I say go, put it on sudsandpaws.com.
How long it takes depends on the site. The Goalposts site went from nothing to published in 25 minutes.
- 1
ChatGPT starts the site
list_templatescreate_siteIt looks at the templates, picks a starting point or a blank page, and creates the site in your PageHub account.
- 2
It sets the look
suggest_palettesset_themeIt can show you 3 palette options in the chat, then applies colors and fonts to the whole site at once.
- 3
It builds the pages
add_pageapply_kit_blockfind_imageIt adds the 3 pages, fills them with sections from the block library, writes the copy, and finds stock photos that fit.
- 4
It checks its own work
screenshot_siteaudit_seoaudit_accessibilityIt takes a screenshot at phone width, audits titles, headings, and alt text, and fixes what it finds.
- 5
You review the draft
Nothing is live yet. Ask for changes in the chat, or open the site in the editor and change it yourself.
- 6
It connects the domain
set_domainget_domain_statusIt attaches sudsandpaws.com and hands you the exact DNS records to add at your registrar. Then it checks whether they're in place.
- 7
It publishes
publish_siteAttaching a domain doesn't publish anything. Your prompt said to wait, so ChatGPT publishes when you say go. The SSL certificate can take a few minutes to arrive.
Can ChatGPT build a website on its own?
Yes. ChatGPT can write the code for a whole website. What it doesn't do on its own is run the site after that: the domain, the hosting, the forms, and the edits next month.
ChatGPT chat and canvas
What it can do
- Write a full page of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from a description
- Preview HTML and React code in canvas
- Share the conversation as a link
What it leaves to you
- Put it on your own domain. You copy the code out and find a host
- Save form submissions or give you SEO settings
- Let someone else change it without going back to ChatGPT
Codex
What it can do
- Build a complete code project
- Run it, test it, and fix it
- Commit it to a git repository
What it leaves to you
- Host it. You pick a host, connect the repo, and set up DNS yourself
- Give a non-developer a way to edit it. Changes mean code, or asking an AI again
That's fine for a prototype or a page you share with friends. For a business site, you also need an address people can find, a form that reaches you, and a way to fix a typo without starting a new chat.
What PageHub adds
PageHub is a website builder with an MCP server. ChatGPT uses it the way you'd use the editor: it creates the site, adds pages, and publishes, one tool call at a time.
A site, not a single file
ChatGPT builds pages, sections, and a theme you can change in one place. Multi-page sites, navigation, and a 404 page work the way they would on any site.
Your own domain
ChatGPT attaches the domain and gives you the DNS records to add at your registrar. SSL certificates are issued for you. On the free plan you can connect 1 domain you own.
An editor anyone can use
Every site opens in a visual editor. Drag sections, change colors, rewrite copy. ChatGPT sees those edits the next time you ask it for changes.
Nothing goes live until you publish
Everything ChatGPT writes lands in a draft. The live site keeps serving the last published version until someone publishes.
Forms, collections, and Stripe
Contact forms that save submissions, collections you can fill from a CSV, and a Stripe checkout for selling.
Checks before it ships
ChatGPT can screenshot any page at phone width and run SEO and accessibility audits, then fix what they find.
Connect PageHub to ChatGPT
Pick where you use ChatGPT. The hosted server works on every PageHub plan, including free, and sends ChatGPT its build rules when it connects.
ChatGPT on the web
ChatGPT needs a paid plan with Developer mode on. On a Business or Enterprise plan, an admin turns that on first. You sign in through your browser, so there's no key to paste.
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Create a new app or connector, name it PageHub, paste the URL below, and pick OAuth for sign-in.
- Sign in to PageHub in the window that opens.
- In a chat, turn PageHub on from the Developer mode tools in the message box.
Once it's connected, turn PageHub on in a new chat and ask for the site you want.

Codex, or any coding app
Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, or any coding app. It adds PageHub to its own settings and tells you if it needs anything from you.
- Copy the prompt below and paste it into Codex.
- Codex adds PageHub to its own settings.
- Sign in to PageHub when Codex gives you the link.
If Codex needs a restart to finish connecting, it tells you.
Set up the PageHub MCP server for me, then connect to it. - Name: PageHub - URL: https://pagehub.dev/api/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP (hosted, nothing to install) - Auth: OAuth. Start the sign-in and give me the link to approve in my browser. No API key needed. If you can't do OAuth, send the header "Authorization: Bearer <key>" with my key from https://pagehub.dev/dashboard/api-key instead. Add it to your own MCP settings. If I need to restart you, reload a window, or approve something to finish connecting, tell me exactly what to click. Once you're connected, call list_sites and tell me what you can see. PageHub sends its own build instructions when you connect, so follow those.
Ways to ship a site you built with ChatGPT
These are categories, not specific products. Every option here works for something. The question is what you need after the first version.
| Question | ChatGPT canvas | Codex + git + a host | Paste-HTML hosts | AI app builders | ChatGPT + PageHub |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Built by the ChatGPT you already use | Yes | Yes | ChatGPT writes it, you paste it | Some offer a ChatGPT app | Yes, over MCP |
| On your own domain | No, the code stays in the chat | Yes, once you set up hosting and DNS | Depends on the host | Depends on the plan | Yes, 1 on the free plan |
| What you end up with | Code in a chat | A code project | An HTML file | An app codebase | A multi-page site in a visual editor |
| Someone can edit it without AI | Only by editing the code | Only if they can edit code | Only by editing the HTML | Mostly through prompts or code | Yes, in the visual editor |
| Forms that save submissions | No | You build or add one | Depends on the host | Often, with a database | Yes, built in |
| Setup | None | Repo, host, build settings, DNS | Copy and paste | An account with the builder | Turn on Developer mode, add a connector, sign in |
Details vary by service and change over time, so check each one's current plans. If you want full control of the code and you're happy running the hosting, Codex with a host is a good fit. If the site needs to live on a real domain and be edited by people who don't write code, that's what PageHub is for.
Built for handing sites to clients
If you build sites for other people, ChatGPT does the first draft and the client keeps it up.
Your client edits it without ChatGPT
The site opens in the same visual editor you'd use. Your client can change text, swap photos, and add sections without an AI account.
Invite them to the site
On Pro and up, add clients as editors, as many as you need, with no per-seat charge. Editors change content but can't manage members or billing.
Every version is kept
Site history keeps past versions. Preview one, then restore the whole site or a single page.
You can take it with you
Export the site as static HTML on every plan, including free.
