Free website builders that work with your own domain

Most free plans park your site on their own address and charge to connect yours. We checked 10 builders' own pricing pages to see which don't. PageHub is ours, so we list its catch too.

The short answer

  • Of the 10 builders we checked, PageHub is the only one whose pricing page says its free plan connects a domain you already own.
  • That free plan includes hosting, SSL, no branding, free templates, Stripe checkout, and MCP access, so Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor can build and publish the site.
  • Odoo's free plan likely allows your own domain too, but it covers one app. Add a second and every user is billed.
  • Wix, WordPress.com, Google Sites, Carrd, Framer, Webflow, and Square Online all need a paid plan for a custom domain. Squarespace has no free plan.

Each alternative, up close

What each free plan really gets you, what it costs to add your domain, and who it suits.

PageHub

A website builder with a visual editor, where your own AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) can also build and publish the site.

Where it's strong

  • Your own domain, no branding, and Stripe checkout, all on the free plan.
  • Templates are free, and the code exports on every plan.

The catch

PageHub doesn't sell domains, so you buy yours from a registrar (about $10–20 a year). Free is 1 site, and 2 GB a month of bandwidth suits a small site, not a busy one. Pro is $7 a month per site.

Free plan
1 published site, 20 pages, 500 form submissions and 2 GB of bandwidth a month, 5 GB of storage
Best for
A small business or personal site on a domain you already own, at $0 a month.

How we checked

Every competitor fact comes from that company's own pricing or help pages, checked October 12, 2026. Each section links its sources. Where a page didn't say, we wrote "not confirmed" instead of guessing. "Free" here means $0 a month to keep the site live. You still buy the domain itself from a registrar, which usually runs $10–20 a year.

Questions about free sites on your own domain

What people ask before they pick a free builder.

PageHub's free plan connects one domain you already own, with SSL and no branding. Odoo's One App Free likely allows it too: its domain docs don't limit connecting your own domain to paid plans. Wix, WordPress.com, Google Sites, Carrd, Framer, Webflow, and Square Online don't allow it on free, as of October 2026.
